  • Individualized Consultation

    If your school or center has a specific goal for Professional Development for educators, work with Katherine to develop an individualized workshop to meet your needs. Topics from emotionally responsive practices, classroom management, emergent curriculum and project-based work to supporting emergent literacy can be specifically curated to the needs of your site and educators.

  • Virtual Workshops

    Pre-Recorded or Live Virtual Workshops for educators are available. Purchase two hour long workshops on Learning Stories and Authentic Assessment, Beyond Blocks, Process Not Product and The Magic of the Outdoor Classroom that include experiential learning opportunities for educators that enhance the knowledge they will be accessing in these sessions. Educators can participate all together on a Professional Development Day or on their own time. Katherine is available for questions for 90 days following all Pre-Recorded workshop purchases. 45 minute sessions on Circle Time and Read Aloud to Support Literacy are also available.

    Katherine will visit your site and spend time observing in classrooms to curate a combination of workshops and individualized instruction specifically for your educators. Any Virtual Workshops are also available for in person.

Learning Stories and Authentic Assessment

Standards are just a jumping off point! How do we take state and federal standards and transform our assessments to make children, their development and their approach to learning visible? Escape the deficit mindset and embrace authentic assessment in this workshop.

Beyond Blocks

Caroline Pratt invented unit blocks in 1913, but why are these still so relevant and vital today? In this workshop, educators will engage in the possibilities for learning through block play. What are the pros and cons of including hollow blocks and other building materials in the block area? How can incorporating Play Schema and open-ended materials enrich collaboration, creativity and STEM across age groups? Prepare to enliven your block area!

Process Not Product: Art and Meaning Making

In this workshop, educators will have the opportunity to learn strategies. To incorporate a wide array of materials and processes in art offerings. From Reggio-inspired, materials based practices to constructivist approaches to incorporating Art History, diversity and inclusion, educators will participate in developing curriculum that supports creativity, expression, collaboration and meaning making. Educators will learn how to extend art encounters over weeks and even months, embrace mark-making and easel painting and find new languages of expression.

The Magic of the Outdoor Classroom

Go beyond reliance on playground structures and pre-fabricated materials in this workshop on place-based outdoor learning. Educators will learn how to support inquiry in the outdoor classroom and how to use the changing environment as a material for learning through play. Redefining gross motor development through risk-taking will also be explored.

Read Aloud to Support Literacy

Structure more engaging story time, from one on one close looking to whole class guided reading. How to focus your book selection, create times for independent looking and other strategies to support emergent literacy with your environment will be discussed.
